Obituary

Jean Mary Williamson Luther of Congers, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2022. She was 76.
She was born to James and Edna Williamson on August 11, 1946, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Jean grew up in Congers and attended Clarkstown Central High School (North) until her graduation in 1964.
Jean married the love of her life, Walter Luther, January 6, 1973. She and Walter built their dream house in Congers on the Celery Farm where they raised their son, John. Their hobby farm situated on the fertile black dirt of the area was home to many pets and cultivated produce ranging from fresh eggs to garden vegetables. Jean overcame a fear of dogs early on to develop a lifelong affection for canines, especially retrievers.
Initially working as a clerk-typist in the Clarkstown Central School District following High School she transitioned to full-time homemaker afterwards. Building on her love of children, Jean served as an Elementary/Pre-School Teacher's Aide and most proudly a Clarkstown Crossing Guard. She thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the kids in Congers, Theills, Bardonia, and Upper Nyack keeping them safe while spreading joy.
Jean was one of the kindest and gentlest souls you could ever meet with a stubbornly sweet demeanor. It could accurately be said that she didn't have a mean bone in her body. Sometimes called the Hat Lady, thanks to her signature attire, Jean loved thrift shopping and was genuinely interested in all the local going-ons around town.
She is survived by her husband of nearly fifty years Walter Luther, their only son John, his loving partner Elizabeth McDonald, her sister Jill Meyer and her husband Kurt. Their daughter Kurill Brindle, her husband James, their daughters Britton & Devlin and son Kyle, his wife Jen, and their children Grace & Luke. Jean will be missed by all who knew her.
